Application :
- Ammonium persulfate ACS can be used as an oxidizing reagent for the solvent-free oxidation of primary and secondary alcohols to corresponding carbonyl compounds in an aqueous medium and also in Thiols to disulfides.
- It can also be used as an initiator to initiate copolymerization of acrylonitrile and itaconic acid.
- It is used with tetramethylethylenediamine to catalyze the polymerization of acrylamide and bisacrylamide to prepare polyacrylamide gels for electrophoresis.
- It is often used for its oxidizing properties to etch copper on circuit boards and is also used to extract copper from chalcopyrite under high pressure.
