Acid Violet 17 (CAS No. 4129-84-4) is a high-performance laboratory dye that has the color of bright blue-purple or deep navy powder. It is readily soluble in water to produce a purple color and violet-blue color in ethanol. At high concentration of sulfuric acid, the dye changes to red-light yellow color and changes to green-light as it is diluted. On being added to nitric acid, it turns to a blue-ray green color. The aqueous solution in the combined version with sodium hydroxide has a light dark-purple color. Coomassie Violet R, Violet BNP and Formyl Violet are also referred to as Acid Violet 17.
Applications
- Electrophoresis & Protein Research: Acid Violet 17 is frequently used for protein staining in electrophoresis, allowing clear and precise visualization of protein structures.
- Blood and Cellular Staining: The stain is useful in improving the blood visibility on surfaces and is reliable in the analysis of blood cells in hematology laboratories.
Key features
- Laboratory-Grade Quality: Manufactured to high quality standards to achieve reliable and repeatable staining behavior.
- Very Good Microscopic Clarity: Gives high contrast thus giving the ability to observe specimens under the microscopes in the laboratory.
