Application :

  • Ninhydrin ACS may be used as a reagent for the quantification of amino acids and peptides by photometric method and colorimetric method.
  • To prepare the ninhydrin reagent, ninhydrin is mixed with hydrindantin, its reduced form, in dimethyl sulfoxide. This reagent is used in the manual ninhydrin method for the quantitative analysis of amino acids.
  • It is employed for nitrite detection in various samples and identifying contamination.
