Calcium Chloride Anhydrous USP is a white colored highly hygroscopic material and It readily absorbs moisture. Its chemical formula is CaCl2. It is also known as Calcium dichloride. Calcium chloride is a calcium and chlorine-based chemical compound. It is highly volatile and is readily soluble in water, ethanol, methanol and acetic acid but Insoluble in liquid ammonia, dimethyl sulfoxide and ethyl acetate. It is a solid salt that behaves like a normal ionic halide at ambient temperature. It can be synthesized directly from the limestone, but is also manufactured in huge quantities as a by-product of the Solvay process. It is highly suitable for commercial, and industrial applications.
ChemieR offers a comprehensive range of ACS grade and ISO 9001:2015 certified products, including high-purity solvents, inorganic reagents, acids, bases, and organic reagents. Our high-quality materials ensure your laboratory achieves precise, reproducible results every time. Rely on ChemieR for trusted, premium-grade chemicals that meet the highest industry standards.
Application :
- Calcium chloride anhydrous ACS/USP is used as a drying and dehydrating agent for organic liquids and gases and for solids in desiccators.
- It is used in drying tubes in research laboratories, salt/chemical based dehumidifiers, fire-extinguishers, plastics, ceramic slipware, as flux in the Davy process for the manufacture of sodium and to increase water hardness in swimming pool.
- It provides inhibition of swelling clays in the water phase of invert emulsion drilling fluids. CaCl2-Pybox (pyridine flanked by two oxazoline groups) has been reported to be an efficient chiral catalyst for asymmetric 1,4-addition reactions of 1,3-dicarbonyl compounds with nitroalkenes, affording gamma-nitro carbonyl compounds in high enantioselectivities.
- It is widely used in catalysis, and thermal storage applications.
Key features :
- High quality product meets higher standards
- High conductivity and stability
- Safe and easy to handle
