Acridine Orange is a reddish-brown fluorescent dye and it is provided in powder form and is normally utilized in microbiology and histology laboratories. It is a nucleic acid-binding dye, which can penetrate cells and give out green fluorescence when conjugated with dsDNA, and give out red fluorescence when conjugated with SSDNA or RNA.
