Application :
- 1-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone ACS may be used as an alternative eluent to THF in the size exclusion chromatography (SEC) based resolution of coal-derived liquids.
- It may be used as reaction medium to prepare 2-aryl and 2-alkyl benzothiazoles and also a solvent in the ultrasonic preparation of metal organic framework (MOF-177) crystals.
- It may be used to synthesize single-phase chalcopyrite CuInSe2 nanocrystals and potassium 3-methyl-2-oxo-pyrrolidinenitronate.
- 1-Methyl 2-pyrrolidinone is used in several industrial uses, including treating surfaces of textiles, resins and plastics, as well as for stripping paint.
- 1-Methyl 2-pyrrolidinone is used in the processing of petrochemicals to recover pure hydrocarbons.
- It is also commonly used to dissolve a broad range of chemicals, in particular polymers.
