Phloxine B is a fluorescein dye which is known to inhibit the enzyme UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT), the main catalyst for the glucuronidation of 7-HC. Additionally, Phloxine B is reported to be a poly(ADP-ribose) glycohydrolase (PARG) inhibitor. As a photoactive dye, Phloxine B is reported to have efficacy against gram-positive organisms. Phloxine B has also been utilized in a study investigating the visible light-induced photodegradation kinetics when coated onto silica TLC plates and in solution. The rapid photodegradation of Phloxine B via visible light exposure was noted and the phototoxicity of the remaining residues were also reported to be decreased.
