Azure II is a deep-blue powdered stain that is an equal mixture of Azure B and Methylene Blue. Azure II, also called Azur II, is a commonly used hematological stain reagent, as well as an Eosin Y stain, having a molecular formula of C16H18N3S·C15H16N3S·2Cl. This common observation of the purple nuclear staining is the product of the interaction of the molecules between the Azure B -DNA complex and Eosin Y dye.
