Application :
- Methyl tert butyl ether ACS is primarily used as a fuel additive in gasoline to raise the octane number by oxygenating the gasoline to reduce engine knocking.
- It may be used to synthesize fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) and glycerol tert-butyl ether via transesterification with canola oil under supercritical conditions.
