.Leucocrystal Violet (LCV) is a cationic triarylmethane dye that is colorless in its reduced form. It exhibits an affinity for both cellulosic and proteinaceous materials. LCV is utilized as a coloring reagent for blood, where it undergoes an oxidation reaction to form the purple crystal violet. This dye has various applications in microbiology and histology, particularly for staining and as a chromogenic substrate in enzyme assays.
TriStains provides a marketplace for histology and biological stains, which is comprehensive enough to encompass the peculiar requirements of laboratories specializing in Histology, Cytology, Microbiology, and Hematology. With a reputation for exceeding quality expectations.
TriStains chromatic performance is outstanding which allows for resolution of cell and tissue components fundamental to life sciences to be clearly visualized. Each product under TriStains series is validated for accuracy, reliability and consistency. TriStains, which manufactures and markets stains and indicators in various packing, offers laboratories turn key solutions for all their staining and indicator needs, improving accuracy in every experiment.
Application :
- Leucocrystal Violet has been used to identify histamine-producing lactobacilli in cheese.
- The dye is widely used to stain blood residue on both porous and non-porous materials.
- Leuco Crystal Violet is used in some Gram staining protocols. When oxidized, it forms the violet stain that differentiates Gram-positive bacteria from Gram-negative bacteria.
- Leuco Crystal Violet is used as a chromogenic substrate in enzyme assays, particularly in the detection of peroxidase activity.
Benefits :
- Highly sensitive, allowing for the detection of small quantities of biological materials, enzymes, and fingerprints
- Provides clear contrast, enhancing the visualization of cellular and tissue structures under a microscope
- Versatile and easy to use

Leuco crystal Violet is a triphenylmethane dye used in the detection of antimony in environmental and biological samples using spectrophotometric techniques. Leucocrystal Violet has been reported that leucocrystal violet can be oxidized with acidified potassium iodate forming crystal violet dye, which shows a maximum absorbance at 590 nm. In addition, leucocrystal violet can be used to impregnate nylon transfer membranes for the purpose of lifting and enhancing impressions made in blood. Furthermore, studies suggest that leucocrystal violet can be degraded by the baterium strain, Sphingomonas sp. CM9.
