1-Octanol ACS

ACS Grade 1-Octanol | CAS: 111-87-5 | M.F: CH3(CH2)7OH | MW: 130.23, Buy now for reproducible and consistent results from ChemieR at Chemical World.

1-Octanol ACS is a colorless slightly viscous liquid. 1-Octanol ACS is a fatty alcohol that functions as a fragrance ingredient. Its chemical formula is C8H18O. 1-Octanol (n-octanol) is a monohydroxy alcohol that can be found in essential oils as the butyrate and acetate. It can be synthesized with high selectivity from biomass-derived furfural-acetone (FFA) in the presence of Pd/NbOPO4 (palladium/ niobium oxide phosphate) catalyst. 1-Octanol is also known as Alcohol C8, Capryl alcohol and Octyl alcohol. It is insoluble in cold water. As an ACS grade reagent it contains high purity and quality therefore it is primarily used as a solvent in various industrial applications.

ChemieR offers a comprehensive range of ACS grade and ISO 9001:2015 certified products, including high-purity solvents, inorganic reagents, acids, bases, and organic reagents. Our high-quality materials ensure your laboratory achieves precise, reproducible results every time. Rely on ChemieR for trusted, premium-grade chemicals that meet the highest industry standards.

Application :

  • The efficacy of the molybdenum carbide/zirconium dioxide (Mo2C/ZrO2) catalyst in the hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of phenol has been evaluated in 1-octanol.
  • It shows promising combustion properties to be employed as a biofuel for spark-ignition engines.
  • It is also used as a solvent for protective coatings waxes and oils and as a raw material for plasticizers.

Key features :

  • High quality and purity product which met the toughest standard of the American Chemical Society (ACS)
  • Gives repetitive, consistent results
  • As a precursor to perfumes
  • As a defoaming or wetting agent
